Photographer is Young & McKay in Marshall (Mich.). Young & McKay operated in Marshall from 1888-1934.

Information about the photograph provided by Rose Breitenwischer:

“Frank H. Kraus (1871-1940) who served as Marshall Fire Chief for one year, 1910 (see A History of Marshall, by Richard Carver, p. 413). Frank was generally considered a natural born mechanic and by trade owned a machine shop for a half-century, beginning in 1897. Many of those years he was located at 424 E. State (Michigan) Avenue. He and his family lived at 102 S. Marshall Avenue. The insignia on his cap reads: Chief MFD. The wording on his badge is hard to make out.

Frank was a brother to my great-grandmother Elizabeth Caroline (nee Kraus) Krauss. I descend from a Kraus/Krauss marriage which were two separate families.”
