Frank was generally considered a natural born mechanic and by trade owned a machine shop for a half-century, beginning in 1897. Many of those years he was located at 424 E. State (Michigan) Avenue. He and his family lived at 102 S. Marshall Avenue. The insignia on his cap reads: Chief MFD. The wording on his badge is hard to make out.
