Subject

Description
A photograph of the John G. Krauss family home at 418 N. Kalamazoo Avenue in Marshall, Michigan.
Information about the photograph provided by Rose Breitenwischer:
“In 1914, John G. Krauss (1876-1927), his wife, Bertha E. (nee Hohl, 1884-1916) and their children, William G. and E. Louise, moved to 418 N. Kalamazoo Avenue. The children appear on the porch in this picture. At the time, John was the owner of his father's saloon at 114 State Street. The house had been built in 1910 by another owner. The family's residency there was short-lived, however, due to the untimely death of Bertha in March 1916. John then moved, along with the children, to the home of his youth and by then widowed mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Krauss, at 309 N. Liberty Street. He sold 418 N. Kalamazoo Avenue to J.C. Beckwith.”
